Hermitage of San Antonio de Padua

At the beginning of the ascent to Mount San Cristóbal, there is the hermitage of San Antonio de Padua, built in 1724, with an architectural style very similar to that of San Cristóbal, located in the upper part of the mount.

This religious building has an atrium protecting the lintelled entrance door, as a refuge for parishioners and visitors.

On the altar there is a baroque carving from the 17th century, one meter high, which represents the holder. One of the few hermitage images that were able to escape the looting of the Spanish civil war.

Inside the hermitage you can read the miracle of San Antonio, which narrates how the saint, during its childhood, locked up all the birds in a room to protect the crops. Later he gave them all freedom, following a rigorous order, and once outside, the birds prepared to listen to San Antonio.
