La Seo or Collegiate Church of Santa María

Although the origin of the Collegiate Church is the old mosque of the city, purified and converted into the church of Santa María in 1248, construction of the current temple began in 1596. Mannerist in style, it consists of three naves, a transept and an ambulatory.
Its façade is dominated by bronze statues of the two pontiffs who gave the city: Callixtus III and Alexander VI.
In its museum there are pieces of great value such as the tables of Santa Elena and San Sebastián, the altarpiece of Santa Ana or Pope Callixtus III, the Major Cross from the 14th century, the Chalice of Callixtus III, the "Lignum Crucis" and the Major Custody of the Corpus, called Alexander VI.
