The tower was part of the palace complex in which Vannozza Cattanei lived.
In a corner of Piazza San Pietro in Vincoli, near the Borgia steps, is the so-called Borgia tower, a 12th-century building that, at the time, was part of the palace complex in which Vannozza Cattanei lived. Rodrigo Borgia's lover, and father of Cesare, Giovanni, Lucrezia and Goffredo.
Today the tower is part of the church of San Francesco di Paola ai Monti.
